Cross Connection Program

Borden Tri County Regional Water District is required by IDEM to adopt and maintain a cross connection program. The goal of a good public water supply system is to provide clean and safe drinking water to its customers. However, it is not enough to merely treat the water and meet regulatory standards. The water must also be protected in the distribution system so that it remains free of contamination. Cross-connections and backflow pose dangers to drinking water and public health once the water enters the distribution system.

Irrigation and Backflow Devices are required to be tested every 12 months to ensure they function properly. This testing must be completed by an Indiana licensed backflow tester. The link below labeled Certified Backflow Device Testers provides all the certified testers in the State of Indiana. BTC Water sends out an annual testing letter to remind cutomers to get their devices tested. Samples of the letters that are sent out are in a link below. Homeowners/business owners are responsible for providing BTC Water with a copy of their testing results showing compliance. These results must be provided to the office no later than July 31, of this year to avoid
potential disconnection of service until your account is brought into compliance. Test results must be submitted within 30 days of testing. Test results can be mailed to PO Box 40 Borden, IN 47106 or dropped off during business hours at 1791 West Water Street Borden, IN 47106.
